Report a Job Scam
If you think a recruiter, job offer, or hiring message is a scam, save screenshots, emails, phone numbers, usernames, payment receipts, wallet addresses, and links before you block the sender. Reports help platforms, banks, and agencies investigate patterns.
Where to report in the United States
- FTC ReportFraud for job scams, fake recruiters, fake checks, and payment scams.
- IdentityTheft.gov if you shared your SSN, ID, bank details, or other sensitive information.
- FBI IC3 for internet crime reports, especially if money was stolen online.
- Your state attorney general or consumer protection office.
- The job board, social platform, or messaging app where the scam appeared.
- Your bank, card issuer, payment app, or crypto exchange if money was sent.
What to include in a report
- The recruiter name, company name, email, phone number, username, or profile link.
- Copies of messages, offer letters, checks, links, and payment instructions.
- Receipts, transaction IDs, wallet addresses, or payment app usernames.
- The date you were contacted and what information or money you sent.
